Varies: It depends some on the type of hysterectomy. In general, it is not recommended to lift over 10lbs for the first couple of weeks. You may hold the children while sitting but not lift them. After 2 weeks you can gradually lift more but will be slower following an abdominal than vaginal or laparoscopic approach. Your doctor should be able to give you more specific guidlines.
