This is probably: viral, but if she/he isn't drinking fluids, complains of pain, or is having difficulty breathing, I would recommend checking in with her/his doctor. Also, if the fever and cough continue, she/he should have her/his chest listened to by a doctor.

Mgt: A barky cough at this age, is most likely due to Croup. Croup may be caused by any one of a number of viruses.
