?CRPS: Persistent pain and swelling after a seemingly minimal injury could suggest complex regional pain syndrome, also called reflex sympathetic dystrophy. You may also wish to have the knee itself checked out, to ensure you do not have a joint damage or an effusion (swelling in the joint), cartilage or ligament damage. Follow-up with your doctor when therapy is complete.

Ortho eval: Hard to know by description. Could be several things. Sounds like you are doing the right things so far. I would rec seeing an ortho doc for an eval.
