Husband is having sever pain on right side above hip and below rib cage. what can it be and it's getting worse.?

Physical exam needed: Above hip you have ascending colon, liver, gall bladder , kidney, besides muscles. Need to be examined for enlarged organ and point of tenderness, need to know about your bowel habits, urinary symptoms, blood test , urine test and possibly a ct scan or sonogram of the area . So many causes of pain in that area, which will be difficult to pinpoint without a proper exam.
