Infusions: A new drug, benlysta, (belimumab) is now proven to work in non-life-threatening sle. It is a monthly infusion. Other recent data on plaquenil, an old drug, shows that drug prevents kidney inflammation half the time.

SLE: There are many treatments for sle. The decision comes down to you and your rheumatologist as well as how serious and debilitating your sle is. Injectable therapies are the current panacea, but they are not needed or appropriate for all patients.
