Medication may help: Unfortunately there is no cure for the cardiomyopathy associated with dmd. Medications used for other heart diseases, particularly a group known as ace inhibitors can help preserve the heart function. I have cared for a number of patients with ejection fractions below 20% who lived for years without rapid progression.

Low EF: To help improve ef. Medication for systolic heart failure is commonly prescribed under several ongoing protocols. Other things which could be done to improve how well the heart pumps include: limiting salt – limiting salt (sodium) to 2, 000 mg a day, limit fluid intake. 30 minutes a day of activity, even if that activity is walking can help strengthen the heart.
