Inflamed airway: Allergic rhinitis and conjunctivitis symptoms typically affect the upper airways- eyes, nose, throat, sometimes even your ears. Asthma symptoms are in the lower airways causing wheezing, shortness of breath, coughing. A big percentage of asthmatics have allergies as their trigger for their asthma attack. In these situations when you experience an allergic exacerbation, it will trigger the asthma.
