Depends: When you start lifting weights, you should start with smaller weights- a weight that you can lift at least 15-20 times and then repeat for 2-3 sets. Focus on using good form (have a trainer watch you). If you can't lift it that many times without losing good form, it is too heavy. The best way to gain strength is to build up slowly, not pushing yourself and causing an injury.
