Depends: The surgery might not be too painful depending on the amount of dissection and the location of dissection for the repair. Certainly you will be uncomfortable and fearful with first bm after the surgery but you will do fine. Be sure you are taking stool softeners and try to limit your narcotic use because the narcotics can constipated you
