A member asked:

I am having outpt surgery this week for a huge rectocele. should i be worried? is it safe?

Yes: A rectocoele is essentially a hernia. There is a weakness in the area between your vagina and rectum called the rectovaginal fascia. To repair this, the fascia is cut, and the fascia and underlying muscles (levator ani muscles) are sewn together to strenghten the weakness in the fascia. Although it is not quite the same, you can think of it as a large episiotomy repair.
