Difference between pacemaker and icd?

See Below: A pacemaker triggers your heart beat when it gets too slow..Paces. An icd also has a back up pacemaker but can deliver a shock to the heart when it is an irregular rhythm.

A Few Things: All icds are pacemakers, but not all pacemakers are icds. Pacemaker can beat the heart and protects against slow rhythms. A defibrillator can also deliver shocks that can stop a fast rhythm (many of which can be fatal). They are always larger than pacemakers for this reason. Icds also generally have more advanced circuitry, though the gap between the two is closing quickly.
