A member asked:

Can you have dialysis if you have only one kidney?

Yes: You can put anybody on dialysis as long as their blood pressure can tolerate it (not drop). However, it should only be done if the kidney is having low enough of a function to need dialysis.

Depends...: If you have one healthy, well-functioning kidney, you wouldn't be likely to need dialysis at all. If, on the other hand, that kidney isn't functioning well, you may well need dialysis. Please provide more details so the kidney specialists weigh in on the question. LGromkoMD
