Low impact exercise: Medication can help a lot if there is pain associated with the arthritis. But if you want to avoid taking meds, low impact exercise such as water aerobics or swimming will help. Movement of the joint produces synovium which is the joint fluid and helps with arthritis. There are natural medicine you can take as well such glucosamine. But always ask your doctor if such medicines are ok for you.

Depends : On the type of arthritis present, the extent etc. I.E arthritis can be rheumatoid or osteoarthritis and there treatments would be different.
