Swish: One way is to just swish like you would with a mouth rinse. Sometimes a dentist may recommmend a plastic syringe and squirt into the extraction site.

3-4 times daily: Use a teaspoon of salt to a glass of warm water. Take a mouthfull and move it around your mouth for about 20 seconds and then spit out. Repeat until the glass is empty. Do this after meals and prior to bed time for 5-6 days after extractions are done.

Rinse after meals: But there is nothing magical about salt water rinses. Using plain old water is fine. We used to think that salt water was special because it was more like plasma, but making your own salt water is not the same as a balanced salt solution. Save yourself time and taste and use plain water.
