What is a good medication to help keep the joints from turning in rheumatoid arthritis?

Methotrexate: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) can cause joint deformity. This is due to bone destruction and ligament loosening. Methotrexate is the best, safest oral medicine to prevent these changes. There is a 2 year window of opportunity to prevent joint damage after the diagnosis of ra. Other immunosuppressive meds and newer injectable meds are sometimes added to Methotrexate to help it work better.
