Yes: Before you spend time worrying, verify the pregnancy. Then you face the simple decision on how far into the pregnancy you want to bf. If this is a good nurturing time you both enjoy continue. If you find yourself chasing baby down to feed & s/he makes it short & quickly gets off it is time to wean.

NO!: Avoid/stop breastfeeding if you are pregnant again! nipple stimulation releases oxytocin and may cause uterine contractions that can increase your risk for miscarriage. Additionally, there is no need to breastfeed a 13-month old - you would be advised to wean him off as soon as possible and advance to regular diet for physical and emotional well-being.

Middle ground: Mild uterine contractions caused by breastfeeding may not impact a healthy pregnancy but certainly may if you have a history of premature birth, are experiencing pain, or you have any bleeding.Ask your ob. A typically-developing 13-month old can wean to a cup, & only needs 16-21 oz. Of milk & milk products/ day. If you wait till 15 mos., it'll be a lot harder to convince your baby to wean.
