Open the mouth: Difficulty in openning the mouth is a comon complication of jaw surgery. Intervention must begin immediately with a therabite or at least several tongue depressors to stretch the mouth open. This must be done under a doctor's direction. Occasionaly i need to surgically open the mouth and keep it open with physical devices. Radiation also reduces range of motion and must be dealt with agressively.

This is common: With surgeries in the mouth patients often have limited opening due to the pain and swelling from the surgery. Usually after surgery physical therapy can be started for the jaw to increase the opening.
