Depends on symptoms: It should be checked as soon as there are symptoms otherwise once a week for 4 weeks then once a month for 3 months if no event recorded. . There are no hard and fast rule how long it should stay.

Depends: If you're having a lot of symptoms you should have your doctor check it sooner rather than later. However otherwise you should have it checked during your regularly scheduled appointments. Also sometimes you can send transmissions from home.
