See below.: Salt restriction, i.e. A low sodium diet is extremely important and effective in treating hypertension. Salt substitutes are loaded with potasium and one needs to be careful

Absolutely needed: Salt restriction is absolutely important for controlling BP. Salt substitute- potassium chloride is not a problem if your kidney function is good and you do not have high potassium in the blood due to medications or other diseases
