It's used for illnesses such as schizophrenia; schizoaffective disorder; psychotic symptoms in ptsd; psychotic & bipolar depression; acute mania in bipolar disorder; and maintenance therapy in bipolar disorder. It can also be used off label in low doses to augment antidepressants in major depression, and to help sleep.
