Many Causes: Myositis refers to inflammation of muscle the symptoms can include one or more of the following weakness, pain and swelling. Causes of myositis include, autoimmune, infection, injury, or can be a side effect of medications.

A common type is related to statins; a type of cholesterol medicine. Other types: inflammatory, inclusion body, metabolic, thyroid, Cocaine or alcohol induced, viral, and parasitic infection.
