Not likely: Familial occurrence is not prominent but because ms is somewhat frequent, several members of same family may get it. Trigeminal neuralgia occurs in ms, other neurologic disorders & also by itself. Mri brain scan is a good diagnostic starting point, providing you have had a thorough neurological examination.

Prob just Trig Neur: No, trigeminal neuralgia does not normally mean MS will develop. Most cases of TN are not explained, but they are not associated with MS. Furthermore, neither condition runs in families. The influence of inheritance on MS is weak- siblings and identical twins rarely both obtain MS.

Not likely: MS is not a genetic disorder, and your Grandmother's illness provides no statistical risk for you. Yes, trigeminal neuralgia can occur in MS patients, but occurs more frequently on it's own due to local brain mechanical issues.
