A member asked:

My 7 yr old is having chest pain right in the middle of his chest. he has never complained of chest pain. should i rush him to urgent care or wait ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Mid chest pain at 7: Usually comes from three related sites. The most common is actually digestive in origin. The entrance to the stomach is just below the end of the breast bone in the middle. Acid reflux/heartburn can produce discomfort that can seem a little better after tums (calcium carbonate). The breast bone can have a bony pain that worsens with touch. Quite rarely, the heart linings can produce pain there.
