Narcotics not good: For a painful neuropathy, it is important to evaluate what is causing it. Vicodin is a narcotic and narcotics are not good for the chronic pain of a neuropathy. In fact, taking narcotics can actually make the pain worse over time due to an up regulation of pain receptors. Meds good for neuropathy: cymbalta, lyrica, (pregabalin) gabapentin, various seizure meds, anti-depressants...
