Blocks messages: All sensation and actions we do are sent as messages to our brain centers. When sensation messages are excessive, we register this as pain. Injections of nerve calming or numbing agents into nerves reduce the excessive messages and modify the pain perception. If this works but constantly recurs, the nerves can be permantly suppressed by toxic injections or surgery to cut the nerves.
