Has anyone had a fibroid the size of an orange?

They can get bigger.: I have seen and heard of examples the size of a football or bigger. They cause pain, and if big enough, may become malignant, and so they are removed.

Yes fairly common: Fibroids can get very large. Typically they're only treated if they are causing symptoms (exs. Heavy menstrual bleeding, pelvic pain, increased urinary frequency). Exception is the infertility patient who doesnt have symptoms but fibroid(s) removed in at attempt to improve fertility/prevent miscarriage from submucosal fibroid.

Bigger than oranges: Anyone can get a uterine fibroid, which is an overgrowth of muscle cells in the shape of a ball. Like moles on the skin, they come in different sizes/shapes; RARELY cancerous. You only need surgery if you have symptoms like pain/pressure/incontinence/bleeding/bloating. Size/location don't matter. Lupron (leuprolide) or embolization are ways to control w/out surgery. US follow up is very important.
