How long does it take to recover from scoliosis surgery?

3 months to 1 year: There are multiple types of scoliosis. Recovery depends on your age, the location of the surgery, the number of levels fused, your bone quality, and the type of surgery. This question should be discussed with your surgeon as the answer varies quite a bit depending on the exact cause of the scoliosis, many patient factors, and the type of surgery performed.

Usually a year: It takes about one year for a multilevel fusion related to a scoliosis to fully heal but this varies on the age of the patient at the time of surgery with pediatric cases healing quicker than adults. This does not mean that you are totally restricted from postop day 1 but there is a gradual lifting of restrictions based on rate of fusion based on time, clinical exam and by imaging.
