What's the difference between spondylolysis and an extra vertebra?

Simply two : Different items. A spondylolysis is a defect or fracture through the pars region of the vertebra while an extra vertebra is just an additional one like some people can have an extra finger or toe. Sometimes this extra vertebra can alter the mechanics of the spine leading to back pain.
