Put it back in: The first step is to reduce or put the joint back into place. The biggest problem we see with these injuries is stiffness. Occupational therapy is commonly required. See a hand surgeon.

Reduce joint: Reduced means to put the joint back into place, A dislocation needs the right post injury care. Small fractures that may seem unimportant to many physicians who are not trained to evaluate finger injuries can result in problems so see a hand surgeon.

Be seen: It will need to be reduced, usually better by a trained professional and after an X-ray to make sure it is dislocated rather than a displaced fracture , which can have a similar appearance. Once it is reduced, it is usually splinted for about three weeks to give the ligaments time to heal.
