There are at times: Quick recovery, when the dislocation does not significantly injure adjacent joint surfaces and tissue and there is minimal swelling and there are more sever dislocations associated with damage to sot tissue and bone surfaces. Thus it may be a few week or even 6-9 months before the finger feels better an "normal" generally the joint stays swollen a lot longer than most people think it will.

Depends: If it is a simple dislocation with congruent reduction seen on xray vs a complex finger fracture dislocation that needs surgery.
