Find good team: You want to go to a facility that considers themselves a breast center or a cancer center. The advantage is the team will perform in a multidisciplinary fashion which means they will follow national standards and offer state of the art care. Be sure you have doctors you are comfortable with who take time to explain options. Ask questions and go with her to appointments. Good luck!

Talk to MD: Not all breast tumors are cancers. Most of them are benign. If she has had it for 5 years chances are it is not cancer and, even if it is, it must not be too aggressive. It is important that she follows up with her md who will guide her as to the need for biopsy/excision etc.
