A child with a parent with schizophrenia has about a 13% chance of developing the illness in his or her lifetime. The risk of bipolar in a child with a parent with bipolar illness is about the same.

More info: True odds depend upon which of these diagnoses is correct--though there's also a chance that a mixed diagnostic picture means "schizoaffective disorder". Much also depends on the rest of the family tree, your age, and a careful review of your own history. Unfortunately, the statistical risks are at best approximate today--it's an active field of research. You might want to consult a pro in person.
