Yes: Nitrous oxide has been used for many years and has a great safety record.. The use of nitrous oxide plus local anesthesia is typically a pleasant way to have any dental work done.

Short answer yes: Long answer is that for most dental procedures you do not need to another another drug/med to the mix if not really needed. As an anesthesiologist i would not have (make that never) have nitrous oxide delivered in a dental office. Unless it is given by someone trained in using that gas and the proper monitors are used one can get by with local and a little sedation.

Yes: Nitrous is a nice adjunct to local anesthesia, nitrous is very safe, lowers anxiety, and raises pain threshold.
