PTSD ?: Can be a chronic condition. And usually in addition to medication therapy is very important . Lack of medication compliance is very common among people with mental illness. So if u want to help u mother be supportive , make sure she takes. Her medication and attend her therapy sessions.

PTSD: Maybe yes- or maybe not (regarding taking her medications). Some people may have severe symptoms even if they are being compliant if meds are not optomized. If she is incapacitated by flashbacks it is important for her doctor to know. She may need gentle reassurance about the here and now if she is fully dissacoiated. Her medications may need tweaking. A support group for women with ptsd is a +.
