Suggestability: The medical student syndrome is common--reading or hearing about a disease & thinking you have it-- most pts with panic disorder have extensive medical work ups for cardiac problems seizures etc. You maybe anxious, anticipate negative outcomes & suggestible--don't feel like the lone ranger lotta of people do the same thing.

Hypochondriasis : Hypochondriasis is one of the somatoform disorders, a group characterized by physical symptoms suggesting a medical disorder. But the physical symptoms present cannot be fully explained by a medical disorder, substance use, or another mental disorder. In hypochondriasis, the person does fear having a serious medical condition. These fears persist despite negative diagnostic tests & reassurance.
