Use your judgment: An open cut on the arm can be anything from a scratch to a near amputation. In general, keep pressure to stop bleeding, and keep the wound clean and moist. Dont keep the skin surrounding the wound moist as it will macerate. All wounds shoul heal with this method. Larger wounds will heal faster with suture repair. See a doctor if you have any doubts. Best of luck.

Open cuts: For any cuts and wounds, the first thing you must do is wash it with plain soap and water. If the cut is not deep, then just apply some pressure, then cover it was a sterile gauze with a topical antiseptic. However, if the cut is deep, you may have to seek the aide of a physician or an er for stitches and antibiotics.

Keep it covered unti: Studies have shown that keeping a cut cover with a bandaid and applying triple antibiotic cream or ointment (if you are not allergic to it) will help the cut heal 3x faster than without treatment. It will also lower you chances to getting the wound infected.
