A member asked:

How soon after a oopherectomy will i know if i need hormones if i had already been on them for about 6 years before the surgery?

Can ask the Ob-Gyn: One can check with the ob-gyn or the endocrinologist about how often and when to recheck hormone levels, to see if the dose of the hormone medication needs increasing. It may depend on how much natural hormone the remaining ovary had been making. If it was making very little hormone, then removing it may not make a sudden, noticeable big change.
