Good : With a successful lvad and subsequent heart transplant his chances of survival for 5 or more years is over 70%. His chances are probably even better since he is relatively young. Hope things go well for him.

Better : It is impossible to make a determination of his survival rate but certainly his chances of long term quality survival are best with a transplant. The lvad is a bridge to transplant in his case as the availability of donor hearts is limited. The lvad will help his symptoms while he is awaiting a transplant. I would recommend that you contact a transplant center nearest your home....Good luck.
