A member asked:

Help please? how is a pacemaker affected during a heart attack?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Pacer: A heart attack usually doesn't affect an electronic pacemaker. The device will help prevent the heart from slowing excessively and usually won't be affected by rapid heart action. If a cardiac arrest occurs and defibrillation is necessary, the electric shock could possibly affect the pacer circuitry.
