Shingles?: Itchy blistering rash- if it's on an erythematous base , follows a dermatome and occurs only on one side, it's more likely shingles.

Blisters could be : Drained by the doctor and dried out. Sometimes, if not fungal topical steroids are tried. Did the doctor offer you any treatment? If no response to above, a biopsy could always be considered. There are times that vesicular rashes could be caused by virus as well like a shingles on the foot.
