Not yet: The spinal cord is highly organized, contained cells, nerve fibers, blood vessels, and supporting cells. Restoring it to its original state is not possible at this time. It has extra capacity, so if enough of it is intact and functional, taking any residual pressure off of it may lead to improvement and some recovery. If the injury is complete (no function below the injury), recovery is unlikely.

Not yet: There is limited evidence that diapulse (pulsed electromagnetic field) treatment may help with spinal cord injury particularly if used shortly after injury. Studies are limited, are primarily animal studies, and not definitively conclusive.
