Yes, but...: Going to the er is probably more expensive than going to a dentist. The er is likely to only give you some antibiotics and send you home - after a long wait and significant expense. The er is for emergencies, so they will make you wait while they see the true emergencies. If you don't have a primary care physician, a better choice is probably an urgent care facility. Good luck.

Waste of time: Save your money and see a dentist because the money you will spend to just get an antibiotics can use to see a dentist for proper treatment. Also the abscess will go down with antibiotics but because the cause is not treated the access will come back and you are back to square one.
