Yes but...: Yes but even more important is the fact that you can become habituated and physically dependent of these drugs. This means that larger doses will be necessary to achieve the same effect as previously achieved with lower doses. There also can be serious withdrawal symptoms. Using these medications should be under the close supervision of a physician.
