Can benzodiazepines be in the same class of drugs perhaps be as addicting as opiates?

Benzosdiazepines: Yes. The benzos are frequently known to become addicted.The person might deny this but becomes angry at not being given increasing doses. My mother in law was 92 when she died and she was on a tiny dose of valium.When she stopped the valium due to new doctor, she became confused, then broke her hip and died shortly afterwards.

Addiction: Benzodiazepines and opiates are different types of drugs, and act by different mechanisms on the body. But they are both habituating. Susceptible people may also use both in an addictive way: using more than intended, developing tolerance, and continuing to use despite adverse effects on relationships, work, and health.
