A member asked:

How does a person inherit hereditary deafness is it dominant or recessive genectic or chromosomal

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Genetics: The hearing deficit in hereditary hearing impairment (hhi) may be present at birth (congenital), progressive from birth, or it may develop when the child is older. Approximately 80 percent of cases of hhi are inherited in an autosomal recessive pattern, 15 percent are autosomal dominant, 2 percent are x-linked (mainly recessive), and 1 percent are mitochondrial.
