Many causes. : A urethral stricture is a narrowing of the urethra, causing urinary difficulties or obstruction. There are many causes. Injury to the urinary tract from instrumentation, pelvic fracture, or straddle injury are causes. Sexually transmitted infections, skin diseases such as lichen sclerosis, congenital abnormalities such as hypospadias, and radiation therapy for cancer are potential causes.

Here they are...: May be caused by urethritis (usually std-related), procedures through urethra for managing stone, bladder tumors, prostate, or bladder neck, etc., trauma/injury, after surgery for stricture itself, congenital occasionally, and even self-inflicting, and so on.
