Arthritis?: Pain that is worse with inactivity in a knee is potentially arthritis. Could also be that you are sleeping in a position that aggravates or stretches a ligament in or outside the knee. Try a wedge under your knees if you sleep on your back. If a side sleeper make sure the sheets are not tucked too tight so to restrict normal leg movement. If it keeps waking see an orthopedist or gp for an xray.
