Avoid hockey injury: -have your doctor or trainer perform a preseason screening exam to identify injuries and or deficiencies. -properly train in the preseason and take part in a sports-specific conditioning program to minimize risk of oversue/overload. -use equipment that fits properly and is undamaged, -avoid dangerous tactics, follow the rules, demonstrate sportsmanship and mutual respect for all involved.

History & physical: Get a thorough history and examination from your primary care provider. Alternatively your team may be able to suggest a physician (they may have a team doctor). It is an intense sport, so one needs to be in good shape. Some medical conditions may keep you off ice.
