I am on lamictal for bi polar. what is the highest theraputic dose i can take. i am not on any other psyc meds. ?

Check with Doctor: I don't think it's a good idea to increase your dose based on what some of us might say here on healthtap. I hope you agree. I also wonder about the symptoms you have which might cause you to want a dosage increase. Too much Lamictal can have side-effects. The package insert for Lamictal recommends a maximum dose of 200 mgs/day, although i've seem some on higher doses than that. Again, ask the dr.

Dosage: Max dose for bipolar disorder is 200mg per day. Dose needs to be increased gradually to reduce risk of serious side effects.
