Is labrum torn?: If you have had a traumatic shoulder dislocation and you in your teens and 20''s you are at risk for recurrence. Your doctor should get an x-ray(if not already done), arthrogram/mri of the shoulder (dye in shoulder) to see if you have a torn labrum. If the labrum is torn you have a high likelihood of recurrence. Ifnot physical therapy should help. You can always start with p.T.

See a specialist: See a specialist to relocate your arm. Do not follow the movies and try to relocate your arm on your only, there are consequences, long term, that could happen unless it is properly placed in. Put it back: Well first it needs to be relocated then immobilized in a sling for 4 to 6 weeks. Then a period of rehab to strengthen your rotator cuff muscles would prevent future dislocation. This is considering this your first or at most second dislocation. Any more then only surgery would be able to prevent future dislocations.
